TII asked for update on west Mayo greenway project

Councillors wish to see greenway delivered out to Louisburgh and on to Roonagh Pier (pictured).

CONCERN has been expressed that the greenway hyperlink from Murrisk to Louisburgh and on to Roonagh is just not a precedence with Transport Infrastructure Eire (TII).

TII have been requested to attend a gathering of Mayo County Council’s tourism committee within the new 12 months to replace members on their plans for the route.

Progress is being made on different initiatives alongside the Clew Bay greenway, together with in Achill and in addition Newport city, which is now at public session stage.

Councillor Peter Flynn expressed concern that the Murrisk-Roonagh part was being ‘parked’ till there’s progress on different features of the path, one thing he would have ‘nice problem’ with.

The connection from Bertra and on to Louisburgh and Roonagh is a precedence and it could not be acceptable that it could be forgotten about.
